THE BENEFITS OF CHOOSING A MIDWIFE
Midwives see pregnancy and childbirth as a natural process
Unlike physicians who are trained to find and treat illness, midwives view the process of labor and delivery as a natural part of a woman's (and her family's) life, not a disease that needs to be managed. This holistic philosophy leads to less interventions and more patient autonomy
Midwifery patients are less likely to undergo cesarians
In our practice, and in centers all of over the world, women whose labors are managed by midwives are far less likely to be delivered by cesarian section
Midwifery patients have more control over their pregnancy
In the midwifery model of care, the patient is at the center of the decision making process. Midwives remain open to doulas, water births, birth plans and complementary and alternative medicine.
